Technical Information

Detailed technical information for Kingspan Dri-Design, including cassette types, dimensions, coatings & finishes, and certification and testing.

Applications

Kingspan Dri-Design is an aluminium polyester powder coated (PPC) façade system dedicated for buildings with minimal as well as sophisticated façade design. The system combines a quick and simple installation with high levels of both durability and performance. Thanks to the different cassette shapes available (Flat, Shadow and Tapered) a textured, 3D façade can easily be achieved.

Cassette Types

Kingspan Dri-Design cassette options include: Flat, Shadow, Tapered, Perforated and Corner.

Dimensions - Cassettes

Flat and Tapered Cassettes

Minimum and maximum sizes for Kingspan Dri-Design are illustrated in the data sheet.

Coatings & Finishes

All Dri-Design Aluminium Polyester Powder Coated systems are manufactured to the globally recognised Qualicoat standard that includes:

  • Four stage chemical pre-treatment process.

  • Online checks of 'Dry Film Thickness' and 'Gloss Readings'.

  • Post cure checks for adhesion, impact resistance, bending resistance and boiling resistance. Dri-Design Polyester Powder Coated systems are offered with a range of robust periods of both warranty and colour retention, delivered through our standard offering of powder coated systems using the Class 2 range of powders often referred to as 'Super Durable'.

Certification and Testing

Reaction to Fire

Kingspan Dri-Design solid aluminium with a standard polyester powder coating (PPC) finish has a Reaction to Fire Classification of A2-s1,d0 when tested in accordance with EN 13501-1.

BS 8414 Tested Systems

Kingspan Dri-Design has been tested in the following assemblies:

Test 1:

  • 32 mm deep mill finished aluminium cassettes installed onto outer face of QuadCore® Karrier Wall Panels.

  • 80 mm thick Hybrid insulated QuadCore® Karrier Wall panel.

  • 12.5 mm plasterboard lining on 100 mm deep Kingspan Kingframe SFS.

  • Tenmat FF102/50 intumescent fire barrier.

  • Flashings for panels - Tata Steel XL Forté Merlin Grey.

  • Flashings for cassette - Arcelor Spectrum Metallic Silver.

  • 25 mm Knauf insulation packing between cut joints.

Test Report BS 8414-2: 2015 - P107922-1000.

Classification Report BR 135: 2013 Annex B - P107922-1001.

Test 2:

  • Two layers of 15 mm Knauf Wallboard (GYPROC Saint-Gobain).

  • Air and vapour control layer of Airguard control membrane (DuPont).

  • Kingspan Steel frame system of steel ‘C’ sections with 100 mm x 50 mm studs.

  • Earthwool Omni fit slab insulation (KNAUF) of 100 mm thickness fitted in between the studs.

  • Sheathing board Y-wall (RCM) of 12 mm thickness.

  • Breather membrane TYVEK FireCurb (DuPont).

  • Two layers of Kingspan K-Roc® Rainscreen slab insulation of 100 mm thickness.

  • Siderise RH25G 90/30 (Siderise) Horizontal open state cavity barrier plus cassette insert.

  • Siderise RV 90/30 (Siderise) Vertical full fill cavity barrier plus cassette insert.

  • Air cavity 38 mm thick, measured between insulation and Omega profiles.

  • Dri-design aluminium cassette of 2 mm thickness, of PPC Dark copper colour as finishing on the outer face.

The top and sides of the specimen were closed using 2 mm aluminium cap flashings.

Warranty

The warranty offerings for our polyester powder coated aluminium Dri-Design façade systems can vary dependent on a number of influencing factors that can include:

  • Grade of aluminium of rainscreen panel;

  • Chosen colour and finish;

  • Required matt to gloss levels;

  • Locations of the building; and

  • Environmental factors.

Standard coating warranty periods of up to 25 years are available and are subject to confirmation of the above factors by application prior to order to confirm coating specification.

To view our range of available colours and finishes, please refer to the Kingspan Facades Colours & Coatings book ‘Inspired by Nature’ available to download here, or contact the Kingspan Tech-eXchange.

Kingspan Insulating Sub-structures

Kingspan Dri-Design is an aluminium polyester powder coated (PPC) rainscreen façade system that is suitable for use in conjunction with various backing wall structures, these are illustrated below and include both directly fixed applications to either Kingspan QuadCore® Karrier Wall Panels or Eurobond Rainspan™ Karrier providing, a ‘zero cavity’ solution as well as the more traditional ‘extensive (ventilated) cavity’ application.

These backing wall structures are suitable for supporting the entire range of metallic and non-metallic Kingspan external façade finishes.

For construction details and further information on design considerations please contact Kingspan Tech-eXchange.
