The pavilion’s design and colour was intended to reflect the storehouses, factories and relics of industry which are features of Nottingham's industrial past. Inspiration was taken from older surrounding buildings to result in a building with a rich, rust coloured tone, an intentionally weathered finish brought on from lower ground masonry and upper floor oxidised cladding, with a hardwearing and resilient demeanour.

Our RF-Design Recess Fix Cassettes brings warmth to the building, using PPC to intentionally patinate over time, initially weathering to a rich orange and then to a deeper brown. Spanning vertically along the length of the upper levels of the three-storey building, the panels support the design criteria of clear composition that will make the entrance to 1 The Island Quarter more legible, and, when combined with the pavilion’s large arched windows, makes it more inviting.

Our RF-Design Recess Fix Cassettes can be easily installed thanks to the practicality of the large panel format, enabling a swift construction. These can be specified in a variety of lengths and widths.

Since opening in autumn 2022, 1 The Island Quarter’s ground floor space Binks Yard has hosted dance and sports events, as well as large outdoor festivals to invite the community to the newest area of the city. Finer dining restaurant Cleaver & Wake has seen foodies flock to try out the quality menu featuring bold flavour pairings crafted by chef patron Laurence Henry, while its private events space Upstairs at Cleaver & Wake continues to grow in popularity, hosting intimate weddings and high-end parties for a range of corporate guests. The future of the pavilion is bright, with continuous plans to develop it further.
