The building is a significant local investment for Speke, providing employment opportunities in the area. Set within an industrial, retail and commerce hub near the likes of Jaguar Land Rover, Littlewoods, ASDA and Matalan, Prime Point has been fully let out to Benross Marketing since 2020, who agreed to a 15-year lease on the building to keep up with the company’s growth and expansion. The building was designed with manufacturing in mind, including seven dock-level access doors, 30 HGV spaces and a canopy over two drive-in doors.

On the walls of the building, our QuadCore KS1000RW and QuadCore AWP Wall Panels were installed, and the curved-effect roof structure was developed using our QuadCore KS1000RW Roof Panels. These products aided the swift completion of work in less than a year, due to the panels' prefabricated and easy to install characteristics, whilst keeping to the client’s, Prime Property Ltd., budget for the project. Lester Cladding NW Ltd undertook the installation of the insulated panels, with our technical team on hand for the detailing. Of the project, Lester Cladding NW Ltd said ‘it was a great scheme to be involved in, working with Kingspan products.’

The curved effect was created using our QuadCore KS1000RW Roof Panel and QuadCore AWP Wall Panel. This created a standout visual aesthetic without the potential complexities and additional costs of a fully curved roof, whilst still benefiting from the airtightness, durability and thermal performance of the insulated panel systems. The colours were chosen in relation to the nearby industrial landscape, car park and surrounding area, with the roof being clad in Goosewing Grey, and the walls displaying a striking grey gradient getting lighter going up the building – with Goosewing Grey, Merlin Grey and White panels. The QuadCore AWP Wall Panels were placed at the office end of the building, offering a superior visual appearance, and the rest of the QuadCore KS1000RW panels spanned the warehouse elevations.

The Roof

For the roof, Lester Cladding NW Ltd explained how the Kingspan product became the most cost-effective solution to achieve this design. The effect of a softer, rounder and more organic curve set the project apart from other structures, with the secret-fix appearance created by elevated and capped fasteners giving the roof a sleek finish. The fascia along the side of the front overhang adds an attractive finish to the building.

Reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency was important for the building owners, both to reduce capital and operational costs, and also to invest in BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings. Going above and beyond current energy legislation meant adopting a thermally efficient approach to specifying the roof and wall products. The QuadCore insulation core for the roof and wall panels has an excellent thermal efficiency, despite its thin, lightweight structure. Efforts were made to reduce thermal bridging and air permeability to create a highly airtight warehouse and office which required less energy to heat. As well as this, QuadCore is a low Global Warming Potential solution with a lean and circular design which reduces waste and saves material resources.

The solutions consider the need to tackle both embodied and operational carbon, enabling Prime Point to reap the benefits of high energy performance but also contributing to the bigger picture of worldwide climate action.
