Parvalux Electric Motors
A new facility is speeding ahead
Parvalux Electric Motors commission a new facility in Poole for their growing business.

Many of our high-performance wall and roof products were installed on Parvalux Electric Motors’ new facility in Poole. The unique building enables an amalgamation of Parvalux’s three existing factories and meets the needs of a growing, highly skilled workforce, along with showing the company’s long-term commitment to the area.
Sector: Industrial
Location: Poole, Dorset, UK
Architect: Lionel Gregory Architects Ltd

Completed in June 2023, the net zero carbon new home and HQ of Parvalux Electric Motors in the south of England signifies new growth and direction for the business. Moving from their Bournemouth base of almost 70 years, Parvalux is the largest manufacturer of fractional horsepower geared motors in the UK. The space on Technology Road in Poole enables the amalgamation of their three existing factories in the Poole and Bournemouth area, with the company wanting to create a single purpose-built manufacturing centre which could fit an expanding workforce.
The 14,000m² facility has several of our products that give it a sleek, modern finish, such as our Lo-Pitch Roof Panel* and QuadCore AWP Wall Panel in Micro-Rib products, as well as our QuadCore Karrier Wall Panel, Membrane Lined Insulated Gutter System, Metal Roof Flashing and Aluminium Rainwater Pipe. The colours were chosen by Parvalux, with the QuadCore AWP Wall Panels in Micro-Rib creating a bold white facing around the main warehouse part of the building, contrasting the dark grey roof panels and flashings to evoke modernity. The front entrance area and office block differs from the factory block with the selection of a white Lo-Pitch Roof Panel, to ensure the entrance stands out from the rest of the building.

There was an unusual 20 mm movement joint in two directions between the factory and the office block, as well as a small walkway between the two sections.
Jade Aden worked with the client to maintain quality and delivery throughout the build, with technical assistance from our Tech eXchange team on the installation of our products during the design stage. This design and planning stage took twelve months to complete before starting in December 2021, with a relatively quick build planned for such a large facility.
Our products were selected to ensure this smooth project timeline. Jade Aden says of the selection; “The project required a manufacturer who could supply all aspects of the building envelope, which Kingspan was able to achieve, with products achieving the design criteria and the necessary U-values" adding that the use of many Kingspan products met the “delivery timetables that were required and the warranties periods that were requested by Parvalux.”
Achieving the EPC rating of A+, reserved for buildings which have net zero carbon dioxide emissions, the construction team took on a fabric first approach, using thermally efficient and high-performance products whilst adding to this with renewable power. The project aims to be a landmark one for solar power, with plans for the largest photovoltaics arrays to be put on a single building in Southern England. In line with carbon neutrality, the system is planned to generate enough energy to heat and light the entire building.
Our products helped with achieving the high EPC rating by providing low U-Values: -
KS1000LP Lo-Pitch Roof Panel 115mm core - 0.18W/m²K
QuadCore KS1000AWP Wall Panel 100mm core - 0.19W/m²K
QuadCore Karrier Wall Panel 150mm core - 0.12W/m²K.
Our roof and wall panels used on the project deliver leading thermal performance, with the QuadCore insulated core used in the QuadCore AWP Wall Panel in Micro-Rib having twice the thermal efficiency as mineral fibre, which allowed for thinner, lighter walls. The products also have several sustainable advantages for this net zero building; all our Insulated Panels procure steel which is made from 15 – 25% recycled content, and our QuadCore is a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) solution. At end of life, the ease of disassembly of these products makes it a more sustainable building.
