Farington Park Phase 1
New ‘big-box’ logistics hub for the North West
Our QuadCore panels create the ideal envelope for Lancashire mega-warehouse

Sector: Industrial
Architect: Kilmartin, Plowman & Partners
Location: Leyland, Lancashire, UK

Created to meet the intense demand for industrial space across the North West, Farington Park is Caddick Development’s 40-acre logistics development situated close to the region’s major road networks, including the M65, M61 and M6. Phase 1 of the project has seen the construction of a single unit, totalling an impressive 50,539 m² of industrial or logistics space.
Reported to be one of the largest speculative industrial projects in the North West, the new warehouse has been designed to attract large-scale manufacturing and logistics businesses to the area, boosting the local job market.
To ensure an efficient build programme with a high-quality finish, Lester Cladding selected our QuadCore insulated panels to form the complete building envelope after working with us on numerous projects over the years.
The elevations are constructed using approximately 15,000 m² of our QuadCore Insulated Wall Panels in a mixture of lengths and profiles. This included our QuadCore KS1000RW panels, and our QuadCore AWP Micro-Rib panels in 600 mm, 900 mm, and 1 m widths. These were selected with a monotone palette of Merlin Grey, Gull Grey, and Anthracite to deliver a simple, clean, industrial look— an ideal backdrop for businesses to showcase their own branding.
Meanwhile, the roof features almost 50,000 m² of our QuadCore KS1000RW Roof Panels with a classic trapezoidal profile and Goosewing Grey coating, completed with approximately 2,500 LM of 50mm-thick Membrane Lined Insulated Gutters, to ensure continuous thermal performance. These robust, lightweight panels help to achieve a faster on-site build time than is possible with heavier built up approaches, and also provide a structurally-sound, ‘solar-ready’ surface for future upgrades by the eventual building occupiers.
Whilst a number of different panel profiles and types were used on the project, all our panel systems are designed to work together with factory-engineered jointing which simplifies detailing, minimising thermal bridging and creating a highly airtight structure. They were simply mechanically lifted into place and installed on to the steel frame in a single fix. This helped to facilitate a quick, methodical, and reliable build programme, ensuring the building envelope was watertight as quickly as possible.
This integration, combined with their high thermal performance, will help to ensure a comfortable internal environment for occupiers with a lower demand on the building’s heating and cooling systems— thus reducing the building’s operational energy demand and costs in the long term. Using a full envelope system from one supplier also reduced the number of deliveries to site, limited installation issues and minimised waste.
As well as all the other benefits outlined above, the project was given a 25-year QuadCore Assured system warranty. This unique offer covers insurance backed thermal and fire performance, a warranted take back scheme and up to 40 years coatings warranty for the products, along with an assembled system warranty to include the properly specified system accessories and competent installation.
