Frequently Asked Questions

What building types are Insulated Panels suitable for?

Their versatility means that insulated panels can be seen on just about any type of building, including schools, hospitals, shops, distribution centres and other industrial buildings.

Are insulated panels easy to install?

Our panels simplify and speed up installation as they are fixed directly to the supporting steelwork without the need to install multiple layers. Unlike wet trades, panelised construction is not weather-dependent, allowing for a predictable build and enabling the building envelope to be made weathertight more quickly. Additionally, because the rigid insulation is an integral part of the insulated panel, you can achieve excellent insulation continuity with no risk of sagging, slumping or missing insulation. If you would like more information on the installation process for our products please contact our Tech-eXchange team.

What materials are insulated panels made from?

Most of our insulated panels comprise a QuadCore insulation core or a Stone Wool core. The core is sandwiched between metal facings that act as an external weather barrier and an internal vapour barrier. These facings are typically made of a steel composite. Some systems, such as QuadCore Topdek Roof Panel also include an external single-ply membrane. For the specific material composition of each product, please refer to the individual product data sheets.

What is QuadCore?

QuadCore is our hybrid foam formulation based upon PIR technology. PIR in shorthand term is “polyisocyanurate”.

QuadCore is our unique formula that has superior performance over PIR - you can find out more information about QuadCore here.

Can I install rooflights with insulated panels?

Yes, our insulated panel systems are available with integrated daylighting, as well as specialist fabrications. This means you can get a complete, highly efficient building envelope from one supplier.

Are insulated panels suitable for refurbishment projects?

The single-component nature of insulated panels makes them ideal for refurbishment projects. As well as offering excellent insulation performance, they also allow for:

  • minimal disruption

  • a rapid refurbishment programme

  • a range of aesthetic options

  • a safe, secure, low-maintenance solution

How do I maintain Insulated Panels?

Our panels do not require regular maintenance, making them an easy and cost-effective way to lower a building’s energy use. However, we recommend annual checks and cleaning, and for repair works to be carried out when signs of damage are visible to protect the substrate from corrosion.

Can I paint your panels?

You can however this would invalidate any coating warranty on the panel, this also may affect the fire rating of the external coating that is factory supplied.

We would always recommend you get a specialist panel repairer to do this, they will be able to supply the appropriate paint, if this is for a small area our paint supplier would be Turner Trade Paints 01543 577168, all they will need to know is what panel and coating the panel has

What periods of fire resistance do your panels achieve?

Please see the link to our web page outlining the periods of fire resistance that our panels can achieve when installed in accordance with the recommendations in the tables: Kingspan Insulated Panels – Fire Resistance Table.

We understand building and fire regulations can be complex and difficult to understand, we have created a tool which you may find useful to select products to comply with your project requirements: Kingspan Insulated Panels Product Selector Tool.

Do you offer any insulated wall panels with an A1 or A2 reaction to fire classification?

Yes, the panels in our K-Roc Wall Panel range have a reaction to fire classification of A2-s1,d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1. There are four K-Roc panels in the range; K-Roc Karrier, K-Roc Evolution, K-Roc AWP and K-Roc Longspan. For more information please visit the product pages or contact our Tech-eXchange team.
