Applications

High-performance, through-fixed insulated panel systems suitable for internal and external walls and ceilings, including internal ‘box within a box’ applications. K-PIR™ Coldstore Panels can be installed vertically or horizontally

Certification and Testing

Reaction to Fire:

  • Ignitability Index: 0 as per AS/NZS: 1530.3: 1999

  • Spread of Flame Index: 0 as per AS/NZS: 1530.3: 1999

  • Heat Evolved Index: 0 as per AS/NZS: 1530.3: 1999

  • Smoke Developed Index: 1 as per AS/NZS: 1530.3: 1999

Group number:

When assessed in accordance with AS 5637.1:2015 via testing to AS ISO 9705:2003 (R2016) K-PIR Coldstore Panel achieves the following:

  • Group 1: 1,200mm width

  • Group 2: 1,100mm width

  • Smoke growth rate index (SMOGRARC) (m2/S2 x 1000): <100.

Insurer Approvals:

K-PIR Coldstore Panels are tested to:

  • FM 4880 approval standard for class 1 fire rating of building panels or interior finish materials, unlimited height for thicknesses 50mm to 200mm and panel widths of 1100mm and 1200mm

  • FM 4881 approval standard for class 1 exterior wall systems, unlimited height for thicknesses 50mm to 200mm and panel widths of 1100mm and 1200mm

FM approvals are subject to the following certified names:

  • For 1100mm widths: KS1100 CS

  • For 1200mm widths: KS1200 CS

Insurer approvals are large scale testing regimes that provide objective third-party testing, which is underpinned by quarterly, half-yearly and yearly factory surveillance audits (depending on the region) to verify compliance. Insurer approvals are subject to panel thickness, width, orientation, method of assembly, steel coating and manufacturing facility.

Please contact our Technical Team for project specific details.

Fire Resistance Levels

K-PIR Coldstore panels have been tested in accordance with AS 1530.4 for non-loadbearing walls. Fire Resistance Levels (FRL) are subject to panel thickness, width, orientation, distance between supports (span), method of assembly and detailing as outlined in the fire resistance report FAS251608.

Please contact Technical Services for further information.

Scaling Sweetness

The project was to create a 17,000 m2 temperature-controlled facility that would be used to manufacture, package, store and distribute Haigh’s Chocolates. During the selection process, Kingspan was challenged by other suppliers, but Haigh’s maintained their position to keep Kingspan on the project.
